IPTIA: FAQ

FAQ

  • How do I login to the secure sections of this site?
Click the Login link here or to the left. When asked for your username and password, enter your IPTIA customer ID (from your invoice) for the username, and your "webmaster" password for the password. Both are case-sensitive.

  • How do I contact IPTIA?
Please use the online contact form as the preferred method of contacting IPTIA.

  • How do I update my WebSite via Frontpage?
From Frontpage, connect to http://www.yourdomain and provide your Frontpage username and password. This username is constructed from your domain name in the form "f_yourdomain", and is truncated to 16 characters. Omit the last character if it is a dot (.). The password is set to the current "webmaster" password upon initial installation of your site. Please contact IPTIA if you did not receive or do not know this password.

  • How do I update my WebSite via FTP?
Connect to www.yourdomain with an FTP client and provide "webmaster" as the username, and the same password as your "webmaster" email password. Upon logon, you will be placed in the webmaster's HOME FTP directory. Your web content is linked via the "/web" folder. Actual published content should be placed in the "/web/htdocs/" folder tree.

  • How do I access my website logs?
You can access your website logs directly via FTP in the "/web/logs/" folder tree. Additionally, IPTIA generates Year-to-Date and Monthly log analysis reports every Sunday evening. The resulting reports are available online at "http://www.yourdomain/_admin/report/". Please use the same username/password as you would with Frontpage.

  • My ISP is blocking port 25 (SMTP). What do I do?
IPTIA provides access to all of its SMTP servers on both port 25 and port 26. If your ISP has chosen to block port 25 rather than police its own systems, you can configure your email tool to use port 26 instead of the default port 25.

  • How do I access WebMail?
In most cases WebMail is available for your domain on port 8383 via http://mail.yourdomain:8383, unless you have hosted your email elsewhere.

  • How do I control SPAM?
IPTIA servers incorporate multiple dynamic blacklists to keep out the worst SPAM offenders. The remaining mail is analyzed as it arrives, and if found to be SPAMmish, is labelled in the headers with appropriate data to allow you to use WebMail's internal filtering engine. All IPTIA SPAM data starts with "X-MXS-SPAM" to facilitate simple rule creation via WebMail. Each email user can create his or her own rules, and the "webmaster" can create rules that affect all users of the domain. The filtering engine is very versatile, and allows for the creation of very detailed and complex filters, including whitelisting. Please see the WebMail online help for specific details.

  • When I try to access the file manager, I am prompted for a password. What is it?
The file manager runs on your actual server, so this is the same username and password as used by Frontpage. This username is constructed from your domain name in the form "f_yourdomain", and is truncated to 16 characters. Omit the last character if it is a dot (.). The password is set to the current "webmaster" password upon initial installation of your site. Please contact IPTIA if you did not receive or do not know this password.
